Kinase Family MAPKAPK
From WikiKinome
Kinase Classification: Group CAMK: Family MAPKAPK:
MAPKAPK = MAP Kinase Activated Protein Kinase. As named, these kinases are activated by MAPK. Three conserved subfamilies are found: MNK (containing mammalian MNK1 and MNK2), MK2 (containing MAPKAPK 2, 3) and MK5 (MAPKAPK5). All three subfamilies are found in all metazoans (down to sponges) but not elsewhere. The proteins typically have short extensions beyond the kinase domain, some of which have binding motifs, but none have defined domains.
