Kinase Classification: Group TKL: Family IRAK
This page is in early draft format.
Evolution
IRAKs are found in metazoans, including 4 genes (IRAK1-4) in vertebrates, single genes in flies and worms, and expansions elsewhere. A very large expansion of IRAK genes is also seen in plants.
Domain Structure
Metazoan IRAK genes typically have a N-terminal death domain followed by a kinase domain, though several species have duplicates that lack the death domain or have a second kinase domain.
