Kinase Family STE20

STE11 kinases are MAP3Ks - they phosphorylate MAP2Ks (STE7), which in turn phosphorylate MAPK kinases. These include the major MEKK1, MEKK2 and MEKK4 subfamilies, the Apoptosis-Specific Kinases (ASK), the animal-specific novel family, MEKK15, and the CDC15 family that is absent from animals, along with several unclassified members, mostly in fungi and basal eukaryotes.
