Kinase Classification: Group TKL: Family TKL-Sp1

TKL-Sp1

Evolution

TKL-Sp1 genes are found in fish (generally one per genome), some chordates (several in Saccoglossus, one in Branchiostoma), another expansion in the sea urchin, and with likely orthologs also found in the wasp Nasonia, and the sea anemone, Nematostella. The family is quite divergent, but the orthology between the members seems clear.

Domain Structure

Most members have an N-terminal kinase domain and a short C-terminal extension. Several urchin homologs have upstream ankyrin repeats.

Function

No function is known for any TKL-Sp1 kinase.
