Kinase Classification: Group AGC: Family DMPK: Subfamily GEK

This article is a stub

Evolution

GEK kinases are found in animals and some fungi. Vertebrates have four members: DMPK1, DMPK2, MRCKa and MRCKb, while most invertebrates have a single homolog.

Domain Structure

Most members are ~1800 AA long, with an N-terminal kinase domain, a DMPK-specific domain, followed by C1, PH, CND and PBD domains. DMPK1 is truncated and lacks the last four domains
