Kinase Classification: Group TKL: Family RIPK:Subfamily RIPK-D

RIPK-D is a subfamily of the RIPK (Receptor Interacting Protein Kinase) family that includes a Death domain

Evolution

RIPK-D is found in deuterostomes, including sea urchin ANKK1, and mammalian RIPK1-3. Some scattered protostomes also have RIPK-D, including the Brachipod, Lingula anatina (XP_013410821.1, XP_013394896.1) (Lophotrochozoa)

Domain Structure

RIPK-D have an N-terminal kinase domain and a C-terminal Death domain. Mammalian RIPK2 has replaced the Death domain with a structurally and functionally similar CARD domain, and RIPK3 has lost the Death domain

Vertebrate RIPK1 and RIPK3 have a short RHIM motif used for RIP homo-oligomerization.
