Kinase Family Lmr

Kinase Classification: Group TK: Family LMR

An unusual and poorly-studied family of receptor tyrosine kinases. Most Lmr kinases are anchored in the membrane but have little or no extracellular region. They have a juxtamembrane kinase domain and a long, poorly conserved, C-terminal tail. Vertebrates have three Lmr kinases (LMTK1-3), with one Lmr in many metazoans, though the family has been lost from both insects and nematodes. Lmr1 is the best studied member, also known as AATYK (Apoptosis-associated tyrosine kinase)
