Kinase Classification: Group AGC: Kinase Family RSK: RSKp70

This page is a stub, with very little information, and so is waiting here for someone - maybe you? - to contribute more information.

RSK are Ribosomal S6 Kinases, phosphorylating the S6 subunit of the cytoplasmic ribosome, and so controlling the rate of protein translation.

Evolution

p70S6K are found in fungi and animals, and other RSK kinases, not classified by subfamily, are found in many eukaryotes.

Domain Structure

p70S6K have a typical AGC domain structure: a kinase domain followed by a Pkinase_C domain. Unlike the other two subfamilies of RSK, p70S6K do not have a second, CAMK-group kinase domain.
